New fun jewelry made today – June 22, 2011
The fabric beads the ladies brought today had some really awesome colors, so designing what would go with them was pretty fun!
This bottom necklace with the bright red and blue is I think one of my favorite! Maybe related to the colors of Haiti’s flag.
One thing I have loved about working in Haiti was my Sewing HOPE project (Helping Others Pursue Empowerment). I love to work with the women in my small sewing project as they made blankets every week. My mom even came for a short time and did some quilting classes with them. One of the things that draws me to Heartline is their sewing program.
Their Haitian Creations program is helping women develop a skill, make money and in the end be able to help provide for their families. I am excited to help find fun and stylish patterns and fabrics and get to work in this new program to help develop and market their products.
